Preposition of Time Sentence Examples and Uses

Different types of prepositions of time are listed below:

Uses of Proposition of Time With Examples
Use of Preposition “ON” in sentence
It is used before “Days of the Week” and “dates”.
For example:
- You should come on
- Do you work on Sunday?
- Andrew went to Sydney on
ON is also used with “Morning or Evening” when the date or day is mentioned with it.
For example:
- On the evening of August 14th
- On the morning of December 25th
- On Friday Morning
Use of Preposition “AT” in sentence
“At” is used before “Noon and Night”, “For Weekend”, “For a certain point of time (when)”.
For Example:
- Danny came here at 12 O’clock
- He completed his assignment at night
- Sorry to disturb you at weekend
Use of Preposition “Since” and “For” in sentence
- Since is used for certain point of time (Past till now)
- For is used for over a certain period of time (Past till now)
For Example:
- He has been working for two hours.
- Elon has been trading since 7 O’ clock.
- Have you been waiting for her for 5 days?
- Have you been playing Snooker since Monday?
Use of Preposition “Before” and “After” in sentence
- “Before and After” both used for “point of time” and “period of time” (in case past tense)
- (In case of future) both used for only “point of time”.
For Example:
- She met him after/before Christmas
- Elon Musk became famous after/before launch of Tesla Car
- Sheela returned my diary after a year.
- Amaar will complete his task after/before 6 O’clock.
- Amaar will complete his task after/before a week.
Use of Preposition “IN” and “WITHIN” in sentence
- “IN” is used before “Month”, “Season”, “Time of Day” and “Year” (Future Tense) in sense of “AFTER”.
- “WITHIN” is used before “Month”, “Season”, “Time of Day” and “Year” (Future Tense) in sense of “BEFORE”.
For Example:
- TV Expert will repair the TV within four hours
- She will inform me in a week.
Use of Preposition “TILL” or “UNTIL” in sentence
- Till/Until is used for making the beginning and end of a period of time.
- In the sense of how long something is going to last.
For Example:
- Rozina will be working here from Monday till
- He is on winter vacation till
- She did not get school till 10 a.m.
Use of Preposition “DURING” in sentence
“During” is used for “period of time” or “Duration”.
For Example:
- During the Covid-19 Pandemic, many people suffered hardship.
- Will she marry him during the summer vacation?
Use of Preposition “FROM” in sentence
“From” is used for point of Time.
For Example:
- She will resign the job from
- Her exams will start from
